It can be really hard to keep track of all the qualifications you need and which ones are truly going to benefit you and your career in the long term. Among the most popular training courses that we offer is an IPAF course, but what exactly is IPAF certification? As a leading provider, we are here to give you all the information you need. What is IPAF?

First of all, what exactly is IPAF? It stands for the International Powered Access Federation, and it is an organisation that promotes the safe and effective use of powered access equipment all over the globe. Established in 1983, IPAF is now regarded as the gold standard in the industry. When a candidate has completed IPAF training, it shows employers that they have put in the time and effort to gain the skill and knowledge to carry out their job safely and competently.

Is being IPAF certified compulsory?

No, but an employer does need to ensure that anyone operating a MEWP has been trained in how to do so. IPAF training is recognised as the most competitive form of training for MEWPs out there, so it has become something of a non-negotiable for many employers. If you operate mobile booms such as cherry pickers, you will complete IPAF training that focuses on those, and the same goes for other MEWPs such as static vertical, static boom and mobile vertical (scissor lifts). You can complete IPAF training for all the MEWPS you use.
