Health and Safety Training
We want to equip delegates with the skills and knowledge to maintain a safe working environment. The majority of our compliance health and safety courses are only half a day long, so you will be able to head back to your site as quickly as possible. However, you can combine your course of choice with another to give you an entire day of training. Our health and safety training team will be happy to assist you in providing a training solution perfect for you.
Our Slough health and safety courses cover areas such as manual handling, identifying and reducing exposure to asbestos, abrasive wheels, petrol drive cut off saws, and Cat and Genny training. Our diverse range of courses has made us the number one choice for many clients in Slough.
A construction site is a workplace that can pose a lot of dangers, so it’s important that people are fully trained in what to do in the event of a workplace accident. We’re one of the leading providers of first aid training courses Slough has to offer, and we’re here to give delegates the skills they need to assess, triage and treat people in the safest possible way.
As the provider of first aid courses delegates trust, we aim to deliver first aid training that is as well-rounded and comprehensive as possible. Our courses cover emergency first aid, first aid at work and mental health first aid. The latter is becoming more and more important in employers’ eyes, and training in the area is vital on a stressful working environment like a construction site.
The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) equips construction professionals with the knowledge to identify potential hazards on site, along with helping them to understand the legislation surrounding workplace safety.
As an independent training provider, we are able to be flexible when it comes to Slough CITB courses, we deliver courses at a training centre, on site or online. Our online CITB training is held over Zoom. Delegates will be given a link to join the online session at the agreed time, and all they need to take part is access to the internet, a camera and a microphone.
The online test at the end of the course will be observed by an invigilator via a webcam, so you can complete every aspect of the training remotely. If they pass the test, delegates will receive a CITB accredited certificate that’s valid for 5 years.
The Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) is a CITB accredited course aimed at those holding a senior position on construction sites, such as supervisors, managers and directors. The course takes 5 days to complete, and is delivered through case studies, class discussions and group work.
Our course covers all of the current UK legislation, so delegates will be brought completely up to date. They will also be told how to manage and monitor safety on site. After successfully completing the course, delegates will receive a CITB Site Safety Plus certificate. This is valid for 5 years – after which a refresher course can be taken to make sure that their knowledge is current.
The Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) is for construction site supervisors, and it covers the legal responsibility they have to manage health and safety, along with welfare and environment for the members of their teams. The course covers all the current relevant legislation and is presented in an interactive format. This makes the information easy to digest and understand, and you’ll be able to apply your new knowledge to real life scenarios with ease.
Our SSSTS courses are 2 days long. They include class discussions along with individual or group presentations. These are assessed, and then combined with a multiple-choice test taken by the delegate at the end of the course. Successful completion of a course will lead to the CITB Site Survey Plus certificate. This is valid for 5 years, and a refresher course can be taken at the end of that time period to renew it.
CSCS Green Card Certification
For those looking to obtain a CSCS green card, we can help you to complete the first part of the process. We offer the HSA course, which is 1 day long. Upon successful completion of this, delegates will need to go on and follow this up with an environmental touch screen test to receive the card. Many employers require a CSCS card, and it’s often seen as essential during the application process for a job in the construction industry. Why? Well, it shows that you have a solid understanding of the health and safety practises required on a site.
Work at Height Courses
If someone is going to be working at height, it is essential that they know how to navigate and work safely using scaffolding, ladders, harnesses, platforms and powered access equipment. They will also need to be able to carry out risk assessments and use PPE correctly. We are here to provide delegates with the knowledge they need.
Our range of courses include harness use, harness inspection, steps, ladders, harness and leading edge. We’ll also teach delegates how to identify any of the hazards that can come with working at height.
Our working at height training courses in Slough are all half a day long. They are delivered at a local training centre, or if you have the correct facilities on your site we can come to you for the ultimate in convenience.
Face Fit Testing
Construction sites are often full of fumes and fine particles such as dust – both of which can be damaging to an individual’s respiratory system if inhaled. That’s where we come in. Our face fit testing ensures that a mask provides a complete seal, ensuring that an individual doesn’t inhale anything harmful.
So how does it work? At the start of a face fit test, a delegate will be asked to taste a bitter solution. Once they have done this, they will work their way through a number of exercises while wearing a mask to see if it moves. The test is successfully completed when a delegate has worked their way through the exercises without having tasted any of the bitter solution. Delegates must be clean shaven when undertaking a face fit test otherwise it will be effective. It’s recommended that a face fit test be carried out every 2 years for optimum protection on site.
