Health and Safety Training
We offer general health and safety training in Reading with a variety of half day courses which you can mix and match to create a training day to suit your employee or workforce. Among our Reading health and safety courses there is the topic choice of abrasive wheels, petrol driven cut off saws, manual handling, Cat and Genny and asbestos awareness.
Within the abrasive wheel training, delegates will be taught about the selection and fitting of abrasive wheels. This is taught in conjunction with the manufacturer’s guidelines and current legislation. Within the course, each of the different types of wheels and discs as well as their different functions will be covered.
Petrol driven cut off saws are becoming increasingly responsible for accidents on site, our course aims to make users aware of the risks of using this equipment and how to operate it safely to minimise injuries.
Manual handling is often something we are often introduced to in health and safety training but can often be forgotten in the course of our everyday work. Our training covers the safe handling and carrying of objects to avoid personal injury. Working on a construction site can often mean handling and moving heavy items so it is important to remember how to do this safely.
Cat and Genny training will introduce users to how to use a Cat and Genny to locate underground services in compliance with HSG47 – allowing for groundwork and excavation without the damage or exposure to cables running underneath – helping to avoid any risks and injury.
Finally, asbestos awareness will inform delegates how to handle asbestos in a safe and responsible way to avoid risk both to themselves, others and the environment.

This will form one half of your qualification and will need to followed up with a touch screen environmental test. Once this is complete, it is valid for five years.
Work at Height Courses
Working at height obviously has its risks and it is important to know how to work safely when working above the ground using scaffolding, ladders, platforms or powered access equipment. It is one of the biggest reasons for fatal and serious injuries in a construction environment making it essential adequate training is given for working safely at height.
Our working at height courses in Reading feature a range of half day courses which can either be taken alone or matched with another relevant course to create a bespoke training day. To help with training, we can provide this training on site where the required facilities exist so that this training can be provided in context. The trainer will cover harness use, harness inspection, steps, ladders, harness and leading edge as well as be aware of what hazards to look out for.
Working at height training courses in Reading are essential for operating safely and reducing the risk to workers and others on site.
Face Fit Testing
When working with dangerous fumes that can be harmful if inhaled, it is important that face fit testing is carried out to ensure full face masks are fitted correctly and prevent leaks. If you have workers that are required to wear respiratory protection equipment (RPE), it is important that they or a supervisor have an understanding of how to conduct face fit testing.
As part of our face fit testing in Reading, delegates are required to complete a taste test to ensure they can taste the solution ahead of the test. During the fit test, the delegate will need to complete a series of exercises to ensure the mask does not move and that the solution cannot be testing within the mask.
It is a requirement that those who need to wear RPE should not have facial hair as this can compromise the fit of the mask and allow leaks into the mask. It will need to be redone every two years to ensure the fit is correct.
On this course, delegates will also be taught how to provide face fit testing and the different types of masks available, this training should be repeated every three years.
