If you have been looking for a provider of health and safety courses in your area, you have come to the right place. We are Harrington Safety, and ours are the health and safety courses Bracknell delegates know that they can trust. With years of experience to our name and a friendly, welcoming attitude at our Bracknell training centre, it’s clear to see why we are a firm favourite with clients in the construction centre. Many delegates choose to return with us after successfully completing a course, cementing our reputation as a trusted training centre.
You can complete your health and safety training in Bracknell at your workplace, at our training centre or even online for the ultimate in convenience. Our courses start at ½ day and go up to 5 days long. So no matter where you want to learn or how much time you have, you will be able to find an option that’s right for you. You can choose from IPAF, PASMA, first aid, working at height, CITB, SMSTS and SSSTS training courses when you train with us. You can also complete the HSA course that will give you one half of the qualification needed for your CSCS Green Card – and we provide face fit testing too!
Our courses are all fully endorsed by their relevant governing bodies, and we also provide refresher courses for those looking to re-qualify – as some qualifications do expire after a certain number of years.
Health and Safety Training
Construction sites can pose a number of risks to those working on them, so it’s important to have a good understanding of health and safety. Here at Harrington Safety, you can take courses in manual handling, identifying and reducing exposure to asbestos, abrasive wheels, petrol drive cut off saws and Cat and Genny. So no matter your role at work and what skills you are looking to gain, you will be able to find the right one for you.
Most of the health and safety courses that we offer are just ½ a day long, making them ideal for delegates with busy schedules. If you do have more time to spare, then you can combine two courses to give you a full day of training.
IPAF
The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) is the leading international accrediting body for mobile elevated work platforms – which are often referred to as MEWPs. Over 100,000 people a year take an IPAF training course, and a number of those chose to do so with our help. That’s something that we take great pride in.
We are an accredited IPAF training centre, so we are able to provide a wide range of courses for our delegates. These courses go from ½ day to 1 day in length, and all are led by experienced industry professionals. We cater to operators and demonstrators, and there are a number of great training options for each.
PASMA
The Prefabricated Access Supplier’s and Manufacturers’ Association (PASMA) is the number one accrediting body for mobile access towers in the UK. We’re proud to be an accredited PASMA training centre, so a high level of training is guaranteed.
Our courses cover towers for users, low level access, towers on stairs, towers with cantilevers, working at height, towers for managers and towers for bridging. Being able to offer so much choice has made us a firm favourite with delegates in Bracknell. If you aren’t sure which PASMA course is right for you, we would be happy to help. Just reach out to a member of our customer service team today, and they will be able to point you in the right direction in no time at all.
First Aid
It’s very easy to assume that you won’t be involved in an accident at work – but on a construction site, accidents are more likely to happen. So why not be prepared by taking a first aid course? We are a trusted provider, and training with us will give you the skills and confidence where you are able to safely treat your colleagues or anyone else present on site in the event of an accident.
Our first aid training covers emergency first aid, first aid at work and mental health first aid. The latter is becoming increasingly more recognised as essential in a dangerous environment like a construction site, where someone suffering a mental health episode could pose a risk to themselves and others. You’ll learn how to deal with a situation like this with care and sensitivity.
CITB Courses
The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) gives construction professionals the knowledge to identify potential hazards on site, as well as covering all of the legislation that is involved in working on a construction site. We are an independent training provider, and as a result we are able to offer plenty of flexibility when it comes to our Bracknell CITB courses. You can take your course at the training centre closest to you, on site or online.
What are the benefits of taking your training online? First of all, you will be able to do so in a location that’s totally convenient for you, allowing you to learn where you feel most comfortable. As long as you have an Internet connection, a camera and a microphone, you will be able to attend. The test at the end of the course can be taken online too, so you can complete the whole thing remotely. Once successfully obtained, your certificate is valid for 5 years.
SMSTS Courses
The Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) is a CITB accredited course that has been built around the needs of supervisors, managers, directors or anyone else holding a senior position on a construction site. You will look at case studies, then take part in class discussions and group work over the course of 5 days.
Being 5 days long, this course covers a really broad range of topics. You will cover all of the current UK legislation, so you can be sure that you are working within the law at all times. You will also learn how to effectively manage and monitor safety on site. Once the course has been successfully completed, you will be given a CITB Site Safety Plus certificate. This is valid for 5 years, after which you can take a refresher course to renew it.
SSSTS Courses
The Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) is for construction site supervisors, and specifically covers their legal responsibility to create a safe working environment. The course is fully interactive, making it really easy to follow and remain engaged with. We’re passionate about creating the best possible learning experience.
Our SSSTS courses are 2 days long, and are made up of class discussions and individual or group presentations. This allows you to pick up so much from your fellow delegates. Your efforts in class will be combined with a score from a multiple-choice test that is taken at the end of the course. Upon the successful completion of this, you will be presented with a certificate that is valid for 5 years.
CSCS Green Card Certification
Many delegates in Bracknell are looking to obtain a CSCS Green Card, and we are happy to be able to assist them with one part of the process. If you choose us, you can take the 1-day HSA course. Once this has been successfully completed, you can then go on to take an environmental touch screen test with another provider to complete all the training needed to obtain your Green Card.
A CSCS Green Card is considered essential by many employers in the construction industry, so it’s a must-have for those looking to succeed in the field. It shows that you already have a great understanding of health and safety practices, making you much more attractive to an employer. After all, you won’t have to undergo as much training, saving your employer both time and money. It’s a win-win for everyone involved.
Work at Height Courses
Working at height is when you are working with scaffolding, ladders, harnesses, platforms or powered access equipment – and this type of work does pose a safety risk. If you are working at height, you need to be able to work with your safety and the safety of others in mind. Being able to carry out risk assessments and use PPE correctly is essential too – and that’s what we will cover in the training. We provide training in harness use, harness inspection, steps, ladders, harness and leading edge. We also provide training covering risk prevention and identification.
Our training is delivered in ½ day courses, and you can attend at our welcoming, well-equipped training centre. Or, if you want to complete your training at your place of work, we can come to you. So, you will be able to learn wherever you feel most comfortable.
Face Fit Testing
Dust and fumes are a constant source of danger on a construction site and can have serious effects on a person’s long and short-term health. Well-fitting PPE is therefore essential, and this is what our face fit testing will ensure.
How is a face fit test carried out? It begins with the attendee being asked to taste a bitter solution. They will then work their way through a number of exercises to see if the mask moves at all during the process. Once the delegate has worked their way through the exercises without having tasted any more of the bitter solution, it can be confirmed that the mask provides a total seal. This should then be carried out every 2 years to ensure a continued great fit.
