Face Fit Testing
Respiratory protective equipment (commonly abbreviated to RPE) is essential for maintaining long and short term respiratory health outcomes in dust or fume-heavy environments. A face fit test ensures that a mask is properly fitted, and checks that an individual won’t be exposed to any harmful materials before they start work. It’s totally safe and effective, and gives both delegates and their supervisors total peace of mind.
During our face fit testing in Milton Keynes, delegates will first of all complete a taste test which simply involves them confirming they can taste a bitter solution. Once this part of the test has been completed, they will be asked to complete a number of different exercises while wearing a mask. This is to see if the mask moves. The test is declared a success if a delegate works their way through all the tasks without tasting any more of the bitter solution, confirming a total seal. It’s recommended that this test be carried out every 2 years.
