CITB Courses
CITB stands for the Construction Industry Training Board and these training courses in London cover the standard training expected in the construction industry and are endorsed and recognised by Build UK.
We offer training that contributes to the CSCS card as well as SMSTS and SSSTS courses as well as refresher courses for when your certification is due for renewal.
Our CITB courses are also available online via Zoom, which provide all the aspects of classroom based learning but from the comfort of your own home or workplace. You will require internet accesses as well as a webcam and microphone for this option.
Within the online training, delegates will still be able to take part in classroom discussions and activities and ask questions to the trainer as part of the live online learning environment. Exams can still take place via an online form, which will be invigilated by the trainer via webcam. You will still receive a full qualification and receive the same certification.
CSCS Green Card
The CSCS Green Card is considered the standard training for all operatives on site. It highlights potential hazards on site as well as health and safety legislation and safe working practises.
To obtain this, one half of the requirement is a one day HSA course which you will need to pair with the environmental touch screen test. This certification lasts five years. Our CITB courses in London are a must for anyone in the construction industry.
SMSTS Courses
For site managers and supervisors, there is the CITB SMSTS course which stands for Site Management Safety Training Scheme. This is a five day fully interactive course which consists of case studies, classroom discussion and group work which will be assessed throughout. It covers areas such as health and safety legislation, risk assessments, demolition, electricity, excavations and working at height. Our London CITB courses are suitable for anyone overseeing work on site or for those looking to progress their health and safety career.
This certification is valid for five years, after which you can take a refresher course to renew your SMSTS qualification. This qualification is recognised as a standard for all construction managers.
SSSTS Courses
The Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) is aimed at site supervisors and teaches them about their legal responsibilities around health, safety, welfare and environmental issues. This is a two day course which has assessments throughout as well as a multiple-choice at the end.
The course consists of classroom discussions, group work and individual or group presentations and self-study outside of the course is encouraged. It covers areas such as the Health and Safety Act, common site issues, occupational health, behavioural safety and toolbox talks.
Upon successful competition, this certification lasts for five years and is the required standard for supervisors.
Work at Height Courses
As expected, working at height remains one of the biggest causes of fatalities and serious injury on site, therefore it is essential adequate training is provided and our working at height training courses in London are a must for anyone using scaffolding, steps or ladders on site such as scaffolders, builders and roofers.
We run a number of work at height courses in London which each are half a day so can be mixed and matched for a day of relevant training or can be less disruptive to the working day, where there are the required facilities – we run these courses on site.
The courses cover harness user training, harness inspection, using steps and ladders, harness and leading edge and working at height awareness. The certifications last five years and are a must for anyone working at height to build confidence and instil safe working practises.
Face Fit Testing
Face fit testing is aimed at ensuring the wearer has adequate protection, as poor fitting masks are a major cause of leaks and because of various face shapes, one size does not fit all. Therefore, it is a legal requirement that everyone that needs to wear a tight-fitting mask is face fit tested.
The face fit test consists of two elements, the taste test to ensure the delegate can taste the solution and the test can be carried out adequately and the second part is the fit test which involves a series of exercises to ensure the mask does not move which need to be continued until the delegate cannot taste the solution at all. It is recommended that Face fit testing should be carried out every two years.
As part of this workshop, an accredited trainer will give delegates an understanding of how to conduct face fit testing and about the variations of masks available which they can transfer to their own company. This testing should be completed every two years.
