Your Complete Guide
When it comes to working at height, safety should be at the forefront of your mind. PASMA training has been a firm favourite with a wide range of professionals who work at height for a number of years. However, one common question many individuals and businesses ask is, ‘How do I know which PASMA course is right for our needs?’ Luckily, we’re here to help. We’ll provide you with insights into deciding on the right PASMA course for your specific needs.
Understanding PASMA Courses
Here at Harrington Safety, we offer PASMA courses catering to various levels of expertise and job roles. These courses are instrumental in equipping delegates with the skill and knowledge to safely assemble, dismantle, and work with mobile access towers. Here are the levels of PASMA training that we offer:
PASMA Towers for Users
This is a great way to start your PASMA Training journey. Aimed at novice and experienced personnel alike, this PASMA course is intended for those who will be using mobile access towers, such as construction workers and maintenance personnel, along with anyone else who needs to work at height from mobile access towers. The course covers tower assembly, alteration, how to move mobile access towers and safe working practices.
PASMA Combined Low Level and Towers for Users
The PASMA Combined course is also perfect for both novice and experienced personnel. It is aimed at those that use mobile access towers as well as low-level access equipment. Low-level access equipment is classed as anything lower than 2.5m in height. This is a theory and practical training day that involves hands-on learning. If you would like to sit the Towers for Users and then the Low Level separately, this would be a total of 1.5 days to complete the training, so combining them together in 1 day is really useful.
PASMA Towers for Managers
This theory-only training course is aimed at those in supervisory roles, ideal for site managers, project managers, and anyone who is responsible for overseeing tower use while at work. It provides a comprehensive understanding of tower safety, including regulations and responsibilities, enabling you to support your teams better, meet all your legal obligations and help to send everyone home safely after their shifts.
Deciding on the Right Course Level
Here are some key factors to consider when deciding which PASMA course suits your needs:
- Job Role: If your role involves assembling, dismantling, moving and using mobile access towers, the ‘Towers for Users’ course is the most suitable option. If you also use low-level access equipment, then the PASMA Combined course is the perfect course. If you are responsible for managing tower operations and safety and will not be using the towers yourself, the ‘Towers for Managers’ course is more appropriate.
- Experience: Regardless of experience, both the PASMA Towers for Users and PASMA Combined courses are great as these are aimed at experienced and novice operators. Those with prior experience or individuals who have already completed the ‘Towers for Users’ course may opt for a more advanced course based on their responsibilities and knowledge which we can provide upon request.
- Regulatory Requirements: Always check local regulations and industry standards to ensure that the PASMA course you choose best fits the specific requirements of your work environment. If you aren’t sure, your employer should be able to help you.
